The Adjutant General for the State of Nevada. As Adjutant General, he is the senior uniformed Nevada National Guard officer responsible for formulating, developing and coordinating all policies, programs and plans affecting more than 4,000 Nevada Army and Air National Guard personnel. Appointed by the Governor, State of Nevada, the Adjutant General serves as the Governor’s principal adviser on all National Guard issues.
Brig. Gen. Michael Peyerl became the Nevada Army Guard's latest general officer when he was promoted in February 2022 and assumed two very visible positions. He's concurrently the Assistant Adjutant General and Director of the Joint Staff.
Brigadier General Troy E. Armstrong succeeded Brig. Gen. Zachary Doser as the land component commander of the Nevada Army Guard in November 2020. In his position, he commands and oversees the more than 3,300 Soldiers in the Nevada Army Guard.
Command Chief Warrant Officer Stephen J. Nielsen helps oversee the training, placement and manning of the warrant officers of the Nevada Army National Guard.
Chief Master Sgt. Cameron Pieters, 51, of Reno, is the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Nevada National Guard. He succeeded Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Spaulding in May 2022 after Spaulding became the executive assistant to the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau. As the state's Senior Enlisted Leader, he advises the adjutant general on matters concerning enlisted Airmen, Soldiers and their family members. Pieters supports the directors of the Joint Army and Air staffs with the management of the full-time enlisted staff including active guard and reserve Soldiers and Airmen as well as military technicians.
